day 327 : comfy like an old pair of sneakers

day 327: Some things in life aren't pretty but just make you feel good because they're familiar. Today I felt like a healthy dose of familiarity and decided to wear my old sneakers. No, they're not good looking, and yes they make my feet look big. But they're comfy and they remind me of good times. And that's a good enough for me.

day 326 : yaaaaayyyyy!!!

day 326: The day has finally come... I've joined the big leagues (or rather, the bigger leagues) and upgraded my camera! I have been thinking about (no, make that agonizing over) what camera I was going to buy for months now today I finally decided to plunk down the change for a 5d. I am so excited about it that it's hard to believe I waited so long to buy it... I can't wait to use it at this weekend's wedding!

day 325 : rain rain go away... and take the stupid ants with you!

day 325: A week straight of rain has driven all of the ants in the neighborhood into our house. Not just in the kitchen, not just the bathroom... they're also in the living room, the office, the dining room... places with no food... places they have no reason to go to. I can't stand the ants!

day 324 : out of order i know :)

day 324: Ok... so I know that Friday & Saturday's posts need to come before Sunday's... but I forgot to load a cf card into my camera so I need to get my photos off of the guest camera (Ben's panasonic point and shoot) before I can post them. In the meantime enjoy today's TWO photos of the day. I had a super fabulous time with Allison photographing my incredibly photogenic friend Valena in her wedding dress this morning.. here's one of my favorites (but they're all gorgeous... I think you're gonna want to see the rest on my wedding blog). And about the second photo above... it's a super sneak peak of what may come in the next week or so... can you guess who this little guy is?

day 321 : who doesn't love a cupcake?

day 321: More food photos, but this time for good reason... I finally got to use my new cupcake cookbook. Mmmm. Tasty :)

day 320 : more stuff

day 320: Once again no time... and I'm also not feeling terribly well. At least the popcorn was tasty :)

day 319 : stuff

day 319: I have been super busy lately, not enough time to go out and take nice photos (so sad) so I'm once again resorting to late night photographs of stuff in the house. So vey sad.

day 318 : two in a row

day 318: I try to avoid posting too many photos of food because that would be kind of an easy way out with this photo-a-day thing, but I just couldn't resist posting a second photo of food today because it was so very delicious. By now everyone knows about the pinkberry craze in LA but there's a new yogurt in town that I think is even MORE delicious, and had no line when we went in this evening (which was fabulous). I know my blog readership isn't high enough to cause a run on the store (thus making it crowded) so I'll go ahead and let out the secret... Red Mango is delicious :)

day 317 : lime-tastic

day 317: Well as you probably know there was a lot of football on TV on Sunday. And I am not a football fan. So what did I busy myself with while everyone was parked in front of the tube? Why making limeade from the lime tree in our yard of course. Mmmm tasty!

day 316 : quite a day

day 316: What a weekend! While Kate & Jon were here I think we crammed the days full of just about as much touristy activities (and eating) as possible, and we had a blast! We started the morning off with breakfast, watched a game at Sam & Tai's ultimate tournament, headed out to the Getty center, and finished the evening off with a dinner at RFD and a show at the Groundlings. Quite a day!

day 315 : bookworms

day 315 : Kate & Jon are in town for the weekend... they got in last night and almost immediately Ben & Kate started going through our bookshelves. I haven't had time to read lately so it's good that someone's putting them to use :)

day 314 : oh the frustration!

day 314 : What a frustrating day!! This morning I realized that the contact form on my website had quit working... I wasn't getting any incoming mail. When I finally got it working (at least I think it's working but I'm not quite sure what was wrong with it) my blog header on my other blog now quit working. Boo! I swear that computers are working on some kind of voodoo because I didn't lay a finger on the blog layout and it was working just fine this morning... now... not so much. If any of you computer geniuses out there want to check it out and give suggestions I'd be quite happy to hear them. Otherwise I might just have to chuck something at my computer.

day 213 : best of a bad situation

day 313: This afternoon we got stuck in traffic. A LOT of traffic. What better way to pass the time in traffic than to take a couple of quick photos out the window?

day 312 : long day

day 312: Yesterday was a really long day. I was (and still am) extremely exhausted. Hoping to go to bed before midnight today :)

day 311 : listen to the music

day 311 : I bought my new computer back in early September, but I've been putting off buying speakers for some reason... I guess it's because I'm cheap and I just hate spending money. Well I finally broke down and bought the cheapest set I could find. Now that I have them I can't believe I went so long without them... I can finally listen to music while I'm working, most recently Kate Nash, whose music causes me to jump around and dance in my office. No joke. I love it, go listen :)

day 310 : the search is on!

day 310: Since Chris and Tara are getting married in Dallas, they decided to extend the trip out there for Emily's wedding to include some wedding planning of their own. This afternoon we stopped by one of the venues on their list, Arlington Hall to see what it was like. After looking around for a bit and grabbing a quick bite to eat we were back on a plane, and home in LA. What an exhausting weekend!

day 309 : fabulous day

day 309: What a fantastic day! Jean drove all the way out from Houston so that she could hang out with Tara and I (and all the fam of course). I was so excited to see her since it's been forever since we've gotten together. I made her get in front of my camera for a few minutes, even though it was freezing outside. Thanks Jean! It was so fabulous to see you and I definitely need to schedule my next trip to visit you.
After Jean left we went to my cousin's wedding and reception. It was such a beautiful wedding and I was sad that I didn't get to take more photos, but I wanted to stay out of the way of the hired photographer :) I did however take a couple of shots of the family, and of some dancing. I got this one towards the end of the night and I think it's so sweet! Daddy's (and mommy's) little girl! Congratulations Eric & Emily!

day 308 : rehearsal time

day 308: On Friday night we attended my cousin's wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Little did my mom and Tara know they'd be put to work tying bows on the pews. They did a fabulous job and all the bows looked lovely. I was too busy taking pictures to help :)

day 307 : parker wedding

day 307: I just got home from a gorgeous wedding at the Parker Meridian in Palm Springs. I'm totally exhausted and going to get on a flight tomorrow morning to Dallas (the craziness never ends) I may not be able to post any photos for the next few days, but I will be back with photos on Monday at the latest!

day 306 : backlight

Day 306: Yesterday afternoon Crissy and I drove out to Palm Springs to get ready for the wedding that we shot there today. We had all of our equipment lying around so what better time to try out random fun things.... like remote flash backlighting. This picture is ridiculous. But I still like it.

day 305 : delicious!

day 305 : Ben and I have had two delicious meals in a row, thanks to our friend Jill, who suggested we go to a tasty vegan restaurant last night, and because Ben forgot his camera in her car, we met up again for lunch so he could get it back :) Today we went to Cafe Bolivar in Santa Monica, which was so unbelievably tasty and affordable we will be going back many a time for sure. Take a look at the delicious arepas!

day 304 : self-portrait and sis-portrait

day 304: Well after the post yesterday Allison seemed to be concerned that she looked strange making that face :) Just to prove that my sister is indeed a very pretty girl, here's another (more flattering) shot of her from Disneyland yesterday evening. And my photo for the day... it's been a while since I posted a self portrait so here you go. So much for the one self portrait a month :)

day 303 : the face

day 303: What happens when you carry your camera with you everywhere you go for an entire year, snapping photos of your same friends and family members? Eventually they start making faces at you in hopes that you will not take their picture. Here are two examples of "the face". Nice guys. But I'm still going to take your picture :)

day 302 : yum.

day 302: Sorry for not posting this yesterday... we were up late and it just didn't get done. It was a rainy Saturday filled mostly with errands... but we did eat some ice cream. yum.

day 301 : aint it perty?

day 301: I spent the evening gathering together all my sample books and such for some client meetings on Sunday... this is my favorite. Love the cover... it's silk brocade. Lovely stuff. Not much excitement on a rainy night. Which I believe is about to lead into a rainy weekend.

day 300 : and i didn't even know it

day 300: I can't believe I didn't notice (until just right now) that it's day 300 of this little blog of mine! Wow... I don't even have anything fancy to post. Oops.
Tonight after going out to the movies I immediately launched into a discussion about focal length and depth of field (is that all I think about these days?) so Ben and I pulled out the tape measure to see what effect various focal length/aperture combinations have on my depth of field in a more concrete sense (how many in-focus inches do you get at 50mm f1.4 when you're 5 feet away? anyone?) Thanks for holding the tape measure Ben... and for putting up with my photo-crazed self for the last 300 days!

day 299 : home sweet home

day 299: It's been rough being in and out of the house so much in the last week... plus coming home after the holidays to a house without Rita... but I feel like Ben and I are finally getting back into the swing of things. We finally got out to the store to pick up food so we could go back to our old habit of making tasty dinners at home. It's nice to feel settled again.

day 298 : more wii

day 298 : what better way to end a weekend of playing excessive amount of wii than... well... playing more wii. We've become obsessed with the rayman game... dancing rabbits. What more could you ask?

day 297 : happy new year!!

day 297 : We rang in the new year in style (in party hats of course) by throwing confetti and toasting with champagne. Here's one of my favorite shots of the night. Yay for the new year. I hope that 2008 brings you joy and happiness. I can't wait to see what's next!

day 296 : games galore

day 296 : On Sunday everyone showed up for the big Palm Springs weekend. We played far too much wii, pool, and games ... but we all had a blast. The biggest game of the evening was apples to apples, which I think Shiva got a bit annoyed with since she never won. But all was well when everyone got a prize at the end :)
