photo-rific slump.... because of BABIES!!

Wow it has been SO long since I posted on photo-rific! I pretty much reached the one year mark and petered out even though I was planning on going for another year.

I'm happy to announce, however, that there is a good reason for the lack of posting. For the last 9 months or so I've been very busy being pregnant with two beautiful twin babies! If you weren't already "in the know" about the babies, feel free to check out the baby blog, with photos and updates regularly, for more info. baby-rific.blogspot.com

I am also going to be starting back up on the daily photo posting on photo-rific so stay tuned here as well.

To kick things off here is a shot of beautiful Amelia and handsome Paul :)

i'm cheating (but not dead)

you have probably noticed that my photo-rific posting has been conspicuously absent. Sorry. I've been a bad blogger. I hope to get better soon. BUT in very very exciting news (so exciting I had to snag her photo) you should check out Allison's blog because... she's getting married!! Yahoo!! Hopefully photo-rific will return soon. I'm oh so behind :)

year 2 day 1 :pardon the interruption :)

Day 1: As I'm sure you've noticed I'm a bit behind on blogging :) I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip to Vegas for a big photography convention and I've been in a bit of a frenzy trying to get everything ready to leave town for a whole week. It's been quite tough. I have been taking photos and will catch up when I get back. Promise. In the meantime here's one from Sunday (aka photo-rific year 2 day 1) at a group bridal shoot in Palm Springs.

DAY 365!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BLOG!!

Day 365!! I can't believe that I started this little blog a whole year ago! It has been quite a year indeed, and it's so fun for me to go back through all of the posts and see everything I've done and where I've been. The most exciting part is that I finally get to have all of these posts packaged up into a neat little book so I can actually hold it in my hand and flip through it, which should be fabulous! And... in case you were wondering... yes, photo-rific will continue. It's photo-rific year 2 starting tomorrow and I can't wait to see what the new photo year brings!

day 364 : some much needed rest

Day 364: Life has been pretty hectic lately so I was SO excited to find out that I had an entire weekend free this week and that I'd be able to spend it relaxing with the family in Palm Springs. We drove up last night and have been doing nothing ever since. It's quite delightful!

day 363 : more herb-struction

Day 363: What could possibly taste better than a crumpler backpack? Why nothing of course... which is why Herbie decided to take a bit of a nibble of my camera bag's straps while we were out of the house. Nothing beats having a puppy around :)

day 362 : mmmm cupcakes

Day 362: Last night a bunch of lovely photo ladies and myself went out to dinner before heading to a photographers networking party. Crissy was nice enough to bring us all cupcakes to eat... mmm.... cupcakes :)

day 361 : for a brighter day

Day 361: Nothing brightens my day like a lovely bunch of flowers :) Thank you!

day 360 : why oh why?

Day 360: I'm SO close to the end of my first photo-rific year and yet I am so busy I find it impossible to get my posts up on time. Sorry!! Here's another Herbie shot... I know... way too many lately. Sorry again :)

day 359 : weekend over... time for the week

Day 359: With the last photo assignment of the weekend over (an engagement session) it's time for me to hit the hay. It's been exhausting. And tomorrow I get to get up and start a whole new week. When do I get a break :)

day 358 : crazy weekend continues

Day 358: This weekend I had not one, not two, but THREE jobs in a row, a reception Friday, a wedding all day on Saturday with my friend Tracy, and an engagement session this afternoon. Here's one of my favorites from Saturday... the bride getting ready with her mother and grandmother.

day 357 : pretty details

Day 357: On Friday the photo crazed weekend began with a bit of help for my friend Crissy shooting with her at an evening reception. I wasn't around for the whole evening but I did get a couple of detail shots of the beautiful decor.

day 356 : more office photos

Day 356: Sorry again for the total slacking on posting... I really am taking photos promise :) The problem is I'm just SO busy! Thursday I took a few more photos for the office photo project...

day 355 : so sweet!

Day 355: I had another engagement session this afternoon (tis the season for engagement photos!) and the couple was so cute and so sweet! I have posted a couple more on my other blog if you want to check them out... I love 'em!

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

day 354: a little office fun

Day 354: Today I got to play with cheesy set-up candids of all the architects at Ben's office... the photos are going into a book about the office. The idea for the shots definitely wasn't mine, but I think they actually came out pretty funny. Each group was in a different part of the office. This is the "library" group. Hehe.

day 353 : for the herbie fans

Day 353: It's been a couple of days since I posted a Herbie shot and his fans want more :) So here he is with his favorite squeaky squid. Second only to the kong, which is both his enemy, and friend (when he can figure out how to get the treats out of it).

day 352 : i love the getty!

Day 351: This afternoon I had an engagement session scheduled with an amazingly sweet and cute couple. We planned to go to the Getty Center because, let's face it, it's one of my absolute favorite buildings in Los Angeles. It definitely didn't disappoint this afternoon, the session was amazing and I cannot wait to finish editing the photos so I can post them on my wedding and portrait photography blog. Yay for the Getty!

day 351 : surprise wedding

Day 351: Well it wasn't a surprise for anyone but me :) On Friday afternoon I got a call from my friend asking me if I was free on Saturday for second shooting a wedding. Her original plan fell through and she needed someone last minute. I didn't have any big plans so I decided to help her out and come along. Here's one of my favorites from the dance the bride had with her father.

day 350 : lovely sunset

Day 350: We've gotten a LOT of rain here in the last couple of days. On Friday it rained on and off for most of the day... which meant that when sunset rolled around there were lots of clouds for the sunset tinted light to bounce around off of. I thought the view from our front yard was pretty gorgeous!

day 349 : sorry for the lapse

Day 349: Ben reminded me this evening that it's been a couple of days since I posted to my photorific... oops :) It's been a very busy week. But never fear, most of what I've been doing is taking photos so there are plenty to post!

day 348 : quality car time

Day 348: Well yesterday was a very busy day! I had to drive down to San Diego for the day and spent most of my time in the car, I think I was only in town for maybe one more hour than I spent driving... boo! Well at least I got to have a (very rushed) lunch with mom and say hello to her boys. Hello Bogey! Isn't he cute? After making it back in town we made a quick trip out to meet up with Meredith at the edison for her birthday celebration. It was super dark and hard to take a flash-free photo, but oh well. Happy Birthday!!

day 347 : holiday sweetness

Day 347: One of my favorite things about holidays (since being together with Ben that is) is that no matter what holiday it is we can be assured that a delicious box of sweetness will arrive at our doorstep. Lately it's been my absolute favorite chocolates, shipped here from his hometown of Kansas City... these delicious Christopher Elbow candies are almost too pretty to eat, but then again it'd be a shame to waste them so we always do. This time I preserved with a picture before we dove in. Yuuuummmm valentines chocolate!

day 346 : he luuuuuuvs you

day 346: Sometimes it can seem like Herbie is being a pain... like when you're trying to take a nap on the couch and he attacks you with licks. But really you can't stay mad at a sweet face like his... especially because he only does it because he love you. Oh Herbie. Just hide your face if you want to nap, otherwise this will be your fate!

day 345 : my boys

day 345: I brought my camera along on one of our walks this afternoon... this is my husband + dog advertisement/catalog shot, hehe. Oh my boys, they're so sweet!

day 344 : the herbie destruction begins

Day 344: Herbie is still a good dog for the most part... but he's doesn't seem to know the difference between household objects (pillows, shoes, wiimotes) and his toys. The latest victim to Herbie chewing was the zipper on this couch cushion cover. It's completely gone, and I can only assume that he not only pulled it off in his chewing, but ate it as well. Let's just hope it agrees with him...

day 343 : sweet engagement

day 343: This afternoon I drove down to San Diego to do an engagement session for a great couple. They were so sweet and I am so excited to edit all of their photos... they're just fabulous! I still haven't gone through all of them, but here is one of my favorites of the ones I've seen so far.

day 342 : my valentine

Day 342: Happy Valentine's Day!! For my gift Ben made me a heart shaped bokeh maker, which makes the out of focus areas of the photo heart shaped, pretty fantastic for valentine's day :) Hope you all had a fabulous day!

day 341 : my masterpiece!

Day 341: Ok I know this has been a lot of more than one photo in a row days (I'm indecisive what can I say?) but today I have an excuse because I finally finished my newest model! This thing's a beast, 3feet by 3feet, but it's quite lovely (if I do say so myself). Here's the overall shot (below) and a little detail (above) And yes, I did score brick pattern into the basswood. I'm crazy like that :)

day 340 : it's alive (again)

Day 340: I already had a wedding and portrait blog up and running but I was tired of it so I went for an upgrade and switched over to a self-hosted wordpress blog. I am so excited about it and can't wait to put the last couple of changes into it to make it just so. If you want a sneak peak it's at katyregnier.com/news

day 339 : busy busy

day 339: Still super busy, the model will be done tomorrow so I'll post a photo of the masterpiece :) Yesterday I got my second gallery wrap canvas print in the mail and it is oh so pretty! I'm quite excited to show them off!

day 338 : today's post is brought to you by the letter..

Day 338: I don't know why but I just loved this shot, so I decided to post it. And since we had a fun weekend full of hanging out with family, I figured I might as well post one more, just to prove that we really did have visitors. Allison & Mark at dinner on Sunday night, awww how cute :)

day 337 : herb is the word

day 337: yesterday we headed to Manhattan Beach and did some fun stuff outdoors (it was GORGEOUS out) but I just couldn't resist posting this photo of Herbie... he's just so cute! Awwww! I think he's Allison's #1 fan!

day 336 : wii were tired

day 336: Allison and Mark drove up on Friday evening to hang out with us for the weekend. I though maybe we would go and do something fun, but everyone was pretty wiped so we just played brain academy on wii, which put Ben and Mark right to sleep. I guess wii were tired (haha... I couldn't resist!)

day 335 : ho scale

day 335: All throughout architecture school we always thought it was funny that they sold little ho scale people at model train stores (where we would buy model building supplies). I was out at the model train store on Thursday getting trees for my mega-model and saw these, which are hilarious! Who's putting a wedding bouquet toss into their model train setup? So weird!

day 334 : sorry!

day 334 : Sorry for the lack of posting over the last couple of days, the end of this week was CRAZY BUSY as I was finishing up a masterpiece of a model :) I'll show a shot of it next week. For now here's my late night quick snap from Wednesday

day 333 : super tuesday!

day 333 : I hope you all voted... I certainly did :)

day 332 : we really need to do this

day 332: Ben and I have officially realized that our new dog is going to require some training... his reaction when we come home after being out of the house for a couple of hours is to jump up on his hind legs and literally hug us with his front paws ... not letting go and jumping back up again if we put his feet back on the ground. It's nice to know you've been missed, but I don't think our guests will really appreciate the enthusiasm. Doggy training here we come!

day 331 : pretty books

day 331: Sunday was quite a busy day... but one of the things that I did get accomplished (other than watching the dog to make sure he didn't eat the couch cushions) was to take a couple of quick photos of my sample books to send to clients... thrilling huh?

Saturday, February 2, 2008

day 330 : gorgeous wedding!

day 330: This afternoon I shot a wedding at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. The bride was absolutely stunning, but the best part was she was SO excited to get married! I love a bride who beams all day. She was just radiating love! It was fabulous! My compact flash cards are still downloading onto my computer (it's late and time for bed) but this one caught my eye as I was glancing through the getting ready shots.

day 329 : more herb-tastic fun!

day 329: Yes, I realize this makes two dog photos in a row... but he's stinkin' cute, and it's a brand new dog so I'm allowed :)
Herbie's looking smashing through my wide angle lens... expect many more dog photos to come as well. Because I think Ben got sick of me always using him as my photo subject while we were dog-less

day 328 : say hello to herbie!

day 328: Well we now officially have one more member in the family! We brought Herbie home from the Rancho Coastal humane society on Thursday evening. He is a one year old boy and the absolute sweetest thing you've ever seen. I am so excited that he's finally home!

day 327 : comfy like an old pair of sneakers

day 327: Some things in life aren't pretty but just make you feel good because they're familiar. Today I felt like a healthy dose of familiarity and decided to wear my old sneakers. No, they're not good looking, and yes they make my feet look big. But they're comfy and they remind me of good times. And that's a good enough for me.

day 326 : yaaaaayyyyy!!!

day 326: The day has finally come... I've joined the big leagues (or rather, the bigger leagues) and upgraded my camera! I have been thinking about (no, make that agonizing over) what camera I was going to buy for months now today I finally decided to plunk down the change for a 5d. I am so excited about it that it's hard to believe I waited so long to buy it... I can't wait to use it at this weekend's wedding!

Monday, January 28, 2008

day 325 : rain rain go away... and take the stupid ants with you!

day 325: A week straight of rain has driven all of the ants in the neighborhood into our house. Not just in the kitchen, not just the bathroom... they're also in the living room, the office, the dining room... places with no food... places they have no reason to go to. I can't stand the ants!

Sunday, January 27, 2008

day 324 : out of order i know :)

day 324: Ok... so I know that Friday & Saturday's posts need to come before Sunday's... but I forgot to load a cf card into my camera so I need to get my photos off of the guest camera (Ben's panasonic point and shoot) before I can post them. In the meantime enjoy today's TWO photos of the day. I had a super fabulous time with Allison photographing my incredibly photogenic friend Valena in her wedding dress this morning.. here's one of my favorites (but they're all gorgeous... I think you're gonna want to see the rest on my wedding blog). And about the second photo above... it's a super sneak peak of what may come in the next week or so... can you guess who this little guy is?
